Quattro Stagioni is a four-part stage art pizza baked by dance artist Elina Pirinen, theatre artist Tom Rejström, and dance artist Jenni-Elina von Bagh. It brings together expressive and nuanced flavours, the sharp moods of the seasons, pastoral farce, kinship and nature relations, neoclassicism and old modernism, brutal composition, shameless character work, abundant speech and stern attitudes, great beautiful dance, a person named Spring, the rhythm and dislocation of four-partness, the empty pockets of Grandma and Grandpa, a summer breeze and the labour of expression. Each maker signs their slice of the pizza and arbitrarily stirs their creative visions into a Vivaldian cycle. The agony of creation helps with the agony caused by the world. One season also belongs to 14-year-old Olavi von Bagh and his vision. When these four artists bring together their thoughts, expertise, visions, experiences, practices and politics — and when deeply intertwined artistic currents and chemistries merge with a topographic quartet perspective — a new kind of impossible mutation emerges. The working group shares a seasonal dream: something for everyone, and nothing for anyone.
